Treatments
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage employs movements that can be slow and gentle or vigorous and bracing, according to the results that the practitioner wishes to achieve (Beck 2017).
Myofascial Release
Myofascial therapies rely on three osteopathic principles:
-
Given the correct conditions, the body can heal itself
-
Body structure and function are interrelated
-
The body as a whole is interconnected by fascia
Myofascial techniques stretch, broaden, and soften fascia to reduce the hydrogen bonds that cause the layers of connective tissue to adhere.
Relieving myofascial constrictions that confine or compress nerves, blood, and lymph vessels reduces pain and improves circulation and lymph flow (Beck 2017).
CranioSacral Massage
CrainoSacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiologic body system. A light touch is used to feel the rhythmic motion created by the movement of the cerebrospinal fluid within the craniosacral system.
CranioSacral therapy is intended to resolve restrictive barriers and restore symmetric, smooth craniosacral motion.
CranioSacral therapy is effective for physiologic conditions associated with pain and dysfunction and is used as a preventive health practice (Beck 2017).
Sports Massage
The goal of athletic masage is to enhance the athlete's performance. Performane is regulated by the efficiency, precision, and freedom with which the athlete is able to move. Restrictions from pain, spasms, ad tension inhibit freedom of movement (Beck 2017).
Manual Lymph Drainage
Lymph massage is a key tool for treating edema and soft tissue injuries. It combines well with other techniques such as deep tissue to reduce inflammation. It is deeply relaxing and is a superficial technique that is performed with gentle massage strokes. This can be used in conjunction with other therapies (Beck 2017).
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points can become active due to many factors such as acute or extended overload, trauma, joint dysfunction, arthritic conditions, visceral disease and emotional stress. Trigger points cause dysfunction. Muscles containing trigger points are prevented from reaching their full stretch length and are restricted in strength and endurance (Beck 2017).
Prenatal Massage
In normal, healthy pregnancies, massage often is beneficial to both mother and unborn child. Massage may aid relaxation and sleep, reduce pain, and improve maternal and fetal coutcomes (Beck 2017).

Neuromuscular (Deep Tissue) Therapy
This hands-on treatment leaves patients feeling relaxed and renewed. I love showing my patients how just a few treatments can make an enormous difference to their health (Beck 2017).
Neuromuscular Therapy includes soft tissue manipulation and a postural assessement to determine any distortions.
Assessmet includes palpating the tissues with initial light strokes and progressively deeper strokes, revealing areas of tension, hypersensitivity, contracted tissue and trigger points (Beck 2017).

Reflexology
Reflexology can be used in conjunction with other alternative therapies. It takes into account the whole person and helps activate each patient’s natural healing processes as well as restoring their physical and emotional well-being.
Reflexology is not a cure-all nor can it be used to diagnose. It detects imbalance, congestion, or inflammation and can send messages back to the brain (Beck 2017).
